The Benefits of a Dappe Comb

######## START CREATE YOUR BLOG ARTICLE BELOW ########

The natural material of a Dappe Comb, much like a traditional wooden comb, is antistatic.  Both the comb and the hair have a negative electrical charge which aids in taming flyaway strands and smoothing down the hair making them ideal for hair that is prone to frizz.

Sebum is the natural oil in your hair that nourishes your hair shaft, locks in moisture and helps maintains hair quality keeping it hydrated and glossy. When combing with a Dappe comb these oils glide from the comb and are evenly distributed from root to tip in contrast to plastic combs where these oils can stick to the comb rather than being put back into the hair.

Teeth on plastic combs can often feel sharp which along with feeling uncomfortable can scrape the scalp.  The natural material and design of the Dappe Comb is gentle on the scalp and can have a massaging effect which stimulates blood flow and the scalps natural oils.

We all know that a sustainable comb is far better for the environment than a traditional plastic comb but here we discover the added benefits of a Dappe Comb.

Firstly and most importantly plastic combs are made from fossil fuels and the manufacturing process is conducted in polluting fossil fuel factories.  Dappe Combs are made from a recycled paper composite.  A material that is FSC® certified and manufactured with zero off-gassing using equipment that recycles manufacturing energy back into the system to be used again.

Lastly Dappe Combs are handcrafted by us in our London workshop.  They are designed to be kept and treasured.  Each comb has a unique texture and the material’s natural colour will deepen in time.  By purchasing a Dappe Comb you are helping to support an independent business and keep the artisan trade alive.
