BOLD DESIGN x UNIQUE MATERIAL
Crafted from extremely durable compressed paper material. Minimal and striking frame design finished with Japanese garden (karesansui)’s water flow detailed surface, combining our designer Gow Tanaka’s heritage culture and art and design for working with face shapes from his experience of 25 years working as an international hairstylist.
CRAFTMANSHIP
Each frame is crafted by combining traditional eyewear making with digital fabrication techniques in a unique process working with a special material. The result is a seamless blend of iconic character and sophistication that defines the essence of TANAKA Eyewear.
All our pairs are crafted in our East London workshop with meticulous attention to detail.
FRAME
Our frames are hand-crafted from recycled, FSC-certified paper infused with eco-friendly resin.
Our frames is not only strong, it boast exceptional resistance to heat, unlike conventional plastic materials, also resistant to moisture unlike other sustainable natural materials such as wood or bamboo, ensuring that your pair will not be damaged easily and longer product’s life. Maintain their integrity and elegance regardless of the elements.
This revolutionary approach not only reduces waste but also sets a new standard for eco-luxury.
LENS
We are teamed up with our local specialist EYEWEAR LTD to ensure we have the best quality lenses from ZEISS fitted by experienced professionals. All our pairs will be fitted with 100% UV protection, and anti-reflection on the back of the lens as standard.
HINGE
Each pair is fitted with torque spring hinges by German hinge specialist OBE. They are perfectly suitable to our material and ensure comfort and luxurious movement every time you wear the TANAKA Eyewear.
Do you make prescription glasses?
At the launch, we only offer sunglasses. Now we are concentrating on distinctive and beautiful designs, but we will be releasing once we have backed up with the medical industry standard, and also establish a relationship with good opticians globally before moving on to the prescription world.
Where can I see and try it on?
You are more than welcome to visit our workshop to try our samples. we are based in Hackney near the Broadway market. Alternatively, we can bring it when we have a stall in the Broadway market on Sunday. Please contact us to arrange either way.
Bespoke service?
The combination of quality spring hinges and the universal shape of the temple can offer a comfortable experience for most people. we can offer adjustment of temple angle and length if it’s necessary and engraving monogram on temple optionally. we can’t offer bending due to our material.
